Seminole Clothing For Women

  • Women wore.........
  •    floor length skirts or dresses
  • garments and beaded necklaces
  • They wore many many bright colors

Seminole Food

  • Seminoles ate.....
  • corn,beans,and squash
  • Deer,Turkeys,squirrels
  • honey,berries,sweet potatoes,and acorns

seminole history

  • The Seminole tribe was formed from other tribes in the 1700s.  
  • The main people were the southern Creek who left Georgia to find safer land
  • People from other tribe joined them and they became known as the Seminole T

Seminole Clans

  • The Seminole people were divided in to smaller groups called Clans.   
  • This is an extension of the traditional family unit.  
  • When two people got married the man would go live with his wife's clan.

  • Osceola was a great leader.  
  • Abiaka was a good medicine man.

Customs

  • The green corn dance was an annual festival 
  • Seminole religion centered near the Green Corn Ceremony.  
  • A ceremony is a special event.

Village Life

  • The villages were very small. 
  • The whole village might only have 10-12 homes. 
  • Seminoles did not live in their villages year round. 
  • Kids played with dolls,pets, and many more.

Climate

  • They lived in swampy areas in Florida  
  • The weather in Florida was hot and sunny
  • But the weather was also rainy at times.

Movement

  • Seminoles main transportation was canoes.  
  • Seminoles also traveled by foot. 
  • While flowing animal trails. 

Tools and weapons

  • They made knifes.  
  • Bows and arrows were used later. 
  • In the later years they used snares.

  • these baby dolls are a little bigger then ones 
  • in the past.
