• Senators represent the interests of their states’ citizens, write and support legislation and vote on bills.
• House of Representatives must have loyal support you and to help raise money for your campaigns.
• Also, House of Representatives must be able to attract voter support.

QUALIFICATIONS:SENATORS & HOUSE OF REPS

• Senators: 30 yrs. old, citizenship: 9 years, size: 100, terms: 6 years
• House of Reps: 25 yrs. old, citizenship: 7 years, size: 435, terms: 2 yrs.

HOW THEY ARE ELECTED

• Senators: voters in each state select Senators
• House of Reps: voters in each state select each House of Rep

BENEFITS OF THE JOB

• Senators:$169,000 salary, special tax deductions, generous travel allowances
• Also, generous retirement plan, and franking privileges (no postage)
• House of Reps: same benefits

HOW THEY ARE FIRED

• Senator: may exclude anmember by a majority vote
• Also, may expel a member with 2/3 vote for disorderly behavior
• House or Reps: judges qualifications of its members and
• House or Reps may exclude a memeber by a majority vote
