BENEFITS

• Fulfills commandment to love
• Inspired church sponsored institutions of charity
• Spiritual foundation for service can prevent burnout
• Places an emphasis on serving others and not just the church’s self-interests

LIMITATIONS

• One may be tempted to think this model means obedience to the world
• You may begin to value only human action and ignore the spiritual basis
• Can result in disheartenment when faced with intractable social problems
