PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WHY SETH SHOULD GET HIS LEARNERS PERMIT

SO SETH CAN GET HIS LICENSE WHEN HE TURNS 16

  • According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Individuals who are under 18 years of age must hold a valid learner license or a minor restricted driver license (MRDL) (hardship) for a minimum of six months prior to the issuance of a provisional Class A, B or C driver license.
  • Therefore, everyday that passes after November 25, 2016 is another day that Seth will have to wait to get his license when he turns 16.
  • This is why I am proposing that my parents allow me to start driving school and obtain my license as soon as possible

SO I CAN DRIVE TO SCHOOL

  • Because of the new boundary proposals to CFISD, there will be no bus transportation available to my house beginning the 2016-2017 school year.
  • The only transportation available for residents of Stone Gate will be for students enrolled at Cy-Ranch High School, and I do not want to transfer.
  • This is why it is essential for me to earn my permit in the allotted time period explained in the previous slide.

PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED AGREEMENTS

  • On his 15th birthday, Seth was informed that his driving situation would be reviewed after he received his first report card.
  • Seth received his report card on September 1st and he displayed excellent grades, as he always does.
  • Also, Seth was expected to prepare for the PSAT, which he did to the best of his capabilities and will get his test results on December 12th.

HE DESERVES IT

  • Seth has always gotten straight A's, as is expected of him, and he hardly gets into any trouble.
  • Despite, the hardships and distractions of high school, he has maintained his focus and will continue to do so.
  • This should be taken into consideration when deciding if he should start driving school.

EVERYONE ELSE HAS ONE

  • Also, Seth is one of the few people in his grade that don't have their permit or license.
  • Although Seth is young for a sophomore, many of his friends have been 15 for much longer and are soon to turn 16, Seth has proved to be just as mature as them and he would like to keep pace with his friends.
  • The next slide includes estimated data of the percentage of his friends that have begun driving.

EVERYBODY ELSE HAS ONE

CONVENIENCE AND SAFETY

  • If Seth were to get his license, he could provide transportation for his parents and little brother.
  • For example, in the case of an emergency he could drive someone to a hospital or even just help out when his parents aren't in the mood to drive.

CLOSING STATEMENT

  • In all seriousness, I believe that I have proved my self responsible enough to just earn my learners permit and I hope that you understand and agree with my proposal. Thank you for your time :)
