EARLY LIFE
- Stephen F. Austin was born on Nov. 3 , 1793 in Austinville, Virginia.
- Stephen had 2 siblings, 1 brother and 1 sister.They were Emily and James Austin.
- As a kid Stephen wondered what Texas was like.
- When he was young, he thought the farming industry was boring.
- He always got in trouble for not doing his farming chores.
EDUCATION
- His mother sent him to Yale University to study when he was 10.
- When they moved to Kentucky, he enrolled in Transylvania University in 1810.
- When he turned 20, he left and moved to Louisiana to study law.
- When law didn't work out for him, he moved to Texas.
- His father died when he was in Louisiana, wanting to bring people to Texas.
WHAT HE'S KNOWN FOR
- When S.F.A moved to Texas, he found out people were giving away grants;pieces of land for little or no amount.
- He bought a piece of land and decided it was to small.So,he sold it and use the money to buy a bigger piece of land.
- He invited friends, family and anyone who would come and live in Texas.
- So many families came.On their doors,it said, G.T.T, gone to Texas.
- Stephen F. Austin brought 200 families to Texas!now, he is known as "The Father of Texas".

- His parents were Mary and Moses Austin.
- His middle name was Fuller.
- He was a military leader(occupation).
- He died on Dec. 27 1898, in Austin,Texas.
- His mother wanted him to be a farmer.
