Historical plays and sonnets

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

HISTORICAL PLAYS

  • Shakespear had many historical plays
  • Such as Richard II; Henrey the IV part one and two
  • Henrey the V; Henrey VI part one, two and three
  • And lastly Richard the III
  • These plays depict the hundred year old war with France

HISTORICAL II

  • Shakespeare did not write these plays in order
  • These plays show the medieval power struggles
  • Though these plays were based off of historical figures
  • They are mostly made up of imagination.
  • Scholars do not refer these plays as history plays

HISTORICAL PLAYS III

  • Today we think of these historical figure the way he depicted them
  • For example, we think as Richard the III as an evil psycho path
  • And Henrey the V was the perfect model for kingship
  • These plays show tops to the bottom viewings of society
  • These plays also show the medieval politics

HISTORICAL IV

  • After these plays were written, they were produced
  • Rival theaters would send people to copy write these plays
  • These plays were not medieval society
  • They were Elizabethan and Jacobean society
  • Shakespeare was only truley writing the polotics and social doings

SONNETS

  • Shakespeare's plays were written in sonnets
  • Sonnets have 14 lines
  • They must have a rhyming pattern
  • Each must have 10 syllables
  • A Sonnet is a form of poetry
