I learned that poetry is all around you. There's rhythm in poetry, and rap in poetry. I enjoyed reading funny poems, with the class. You should expect poems of family, dogs, and other crazy things.

Dear Santa, this Christmas my list is quite small.
In fact, I need practically nothing at all.
My list is so short and so easy to read
because there's just one thing I actually need.

A reindeer for Christmas is all I require;
a reindeer, of course, who's an excellent flier.
I really don't care if it's Dasher or Dancer.
I'm okay with Cupid or Comet or Prancer.

Please don't think I'm greedy; I only want one.
You won't even miss him, and I'll have such fun.
I promise I'll feed him and treat him just right,
and take him out flying around every night.

You see, I'm not selfish. So, for my surprise
this Christmas, please bring me a reindeer that flies.
But if my request is a bit much for you,
I guess that an iPod will just have to do.

What the Future Shows
They swim, they fly, they move
taunting mt to say them out loud
With a crack in the lens
which remind me of a somber memory
A frame that is twisted
like a branch on a tree
Just two boys and me
With a two legged race
and Grease the Pig
There was so much excitement
I could hardly breath
Just two boys and me
With Ned by my side
my glasses were saved
A Proclaimation Day celebration
Just two boys and me

A New Life
A new life, a new world
A new look at things
Red, white, and Black
Red
Bloodied men laying prone,
with eyes open wide
White
The ones who changed
our lives forever
Who scarred bad memories
in our back
Black
Us, all of us, the ones who just stand
there watching
like silent animals

As our home land changes,
into something new
Red, white, and something new

I got his poem from the book called Lottie's Courage. It is about a young slave that is soon free. It was taking place during the Civil War.

Rosie
She runs, she wiggles, she eats
With an enthusiastic bark before the through of the ball
She welcomes me when I come home from school
Either I'm happy or sad, if I had a
good day, or bad
She is my four-legged friend,
my little Aussie
happy, hilarious, hipper
She's black, white, and tan, and she is my dog
My dog named Rosie

Family
grandparents,sisters,mother, and brother
Dog, cat, birds, and nerds
Fishes, and dishes, while I work
lurk
My Mother had some butter, a little flower, put it together
Now that's some power
My families whack,
and we go off track
And that's that

I was just sitting around one day. I was thinking about how crazy my family was. So I wrote about my family.

Cammy the Rabbit
Cammy my rabbit feminine but buff
no really, this isn't a bluff
A rex with ears proud and tall
Truly the queen rabbit of all
They call you obese
But i'd disagree
You binky around oh so perfectly
You way seven pounds or maybe above
But the more there is , the more to love!
She's only big
not fat you'd say
i'll hug her and squeeze her all the long day
Once you get to know her,
she's really quite petite!
Whit with a tail, ears and feet
I love her I do!
And so should you.

Rich Kid
I found a quarter in a payphone
Boy am I excited!
I'm feeling mighty, mighty rich
and I don't plan to hide it.
I think i'll but a baseball.
Hmmmm. I don't quite have enough.
Instead I'll buy a rag doll.
Boy this shopping stuff is tough.
Okay, i'll buy a pizza.
No, i'm still a little shy.
How 'bout a bag of onion rings?
Well, it was worth a try.
I've searched for half the day now
for one thing I can afford,
and now I have to tell you
that i'm growing rather bored.
I guess i'll buy some gumballs
so that I can finally end it
It's amazing how long a quarter lasts
when you can't afford to spend it.

I got this poem from the internet. It was made by Arden Davis. I makes me laugh every time!

Break of dawn
I step outside
the cool damp grass,
tickling my toes
I run down to the river
I see a mound of combined color
trickle in
from behind the trees tropical
Summer
the aroma of sweet freshly bloomed
flowers
I wade in the water
the brittle sand beneath me
and watch the sun
rise
I giggle as tiny beasts
tickle my toes
I feel sleepy
I fall asleep

This was made by Sydney Hines. She is a amazing artist and has many fun poems.
