Shigellosis is caused by a group of bacteria spread when it's feces. Poor Hand-washing

SYMPTOMS:

  • Diarreah
  • Abdominal pain/cramps
  • Fever

HOW LONG IT TAKES TO SET IN ?

  • 5-7 days

AVERAGE PER YEAR

  • 87 cases in 2011

Diagnosis:
Do special tests to determine which antibiotics, if any, would be best to treat the infection. Also,

TREATMENT

  • You should get better w/out medicine
  • If needed, doctor will provide antibiotic
  • Ampicillin or ciprofloxacin
