PRESENTATION OUTLINE

How To Shoot A 3-Pointer

Today I will be showing you how to properly shoot a 3-pointer in procedural text form.

Step 1

The first thing you need to do is dribble to the 3-point line. A very key part of basketball is also being able to dribble to set up an open shot.

Step 2

Once you have successfully gotten yourself to the 3-point line you must then pick up the ball. Be sure not to get the ball stolen in the process.

Step 3

After you have picked up the ball you need to set your feet and make sure they are even. Also square your body up to the basket to insure a good base for shooting the ball.

Step 4

When you have your base set you need to put your shooting hand on the center of the ball. Be sure to keep a little gap between your palm and the ball.

Step 5

To go along with your shooting hand put your supporting (opposite) hand on the side of the ball for support. That is to help keep the ball from falling off your hand.

Step 6

Once you have your hands figured out you need to pop your hips back a little bit and half-squat. This will also build calf/thigh muscles.

Step 7

After you half-squat you must come back up from and jump into the air. It will feel weird at first but you will get used to it.

Step 8

While in the air at the high-point of your jump release the ball from your hand. Be sure to flick your wrist to get the spin on the ball that you want.

Step 9

Then once you come back down from your jump you must bend your knees to embrace the force of landing.

Step 10

Make sure once you embrace the landing to hold your hand up like you shot for your follow through. It will help you to have a better, more sure shot.
