PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SHORE LINE EROSION

By:Cade,Cordell,Trey

Introduction:
Sand is made by waves crashing into rocks over a long period of time
-SHORELINE: the boundary between land and a body of water

Wave Energy
-Wind makes waves.
-The size of the waves depend on how hard the wind is blowing.
-Hurricanes and storms cause traumatic shoreline erosion.

Wave Trains
-Similar to when you drop a pebble in a pond and it makes ripples.
-When waves get so high they cannot support themselves and fall over.

The Pounding Surf
-As waves hit rocks they get in cracks and break off boulders.
-It also breaks off small grains of sand.

COASTAL LANDFORMS

Created by shoreline erosion

Landforms
-Sea Stacks, offshore colums of resistant rocks
-Sea Cliffs, waves erode and undercut rock this makes steep slopes

Sea Arches, when waves cut completely through a sea cave
-Sea Caves, when waves tear off large pieces of rock

-Headlands, finger-shaped cliffs erode slower then rock around it
-Wave cut terraces, when sea cliffs are worn back

Shaping a shoreline
Storms produce waves more powerful than normal that can remove large pieces of rock.
