SICKLE CELL ANEMIA

SYMPTOMS

• Shortness in breath
• Dizziness
• Headaches
• Paler than normal skin or mucas membrane
• Jaundice

GENETIC CAUSE

• Mutations in the HBB gene causes sickle cell
• Hemoglobin consist of four proteins subntio,typically two
• Sub units called alpha-goblin and two sub units called beta goblin

TREATMENT/CURE

• Antibiotic
• Pain releasing medications
• Hydroxyurea (droxia Hydera)
• Assessing stroke risk
• Immunization to prevent infections
