SIKHISM'S HISTORY

  • Established by the Khalsa
  • Guru Nanak founded Sikhism in 1699
  • It was born in Punjab, an area in South Asia

5 BASIC BELIEFS OF SIKHISM

  • Worship one god
  • Believe in treating everyone equally
  • Pray everyday to prevent pride,lust,greed,and anger
  • Becoming baptized
  • Take part in fellowship

5 FACTS OF SIKHISM

  • Fifth largest religion in the world
  • Monotheistic religion
  • Over 30 million Sikhs worldwide
  • Sikhs live in almost every major country in the world
  • Over one million Sikhs in the U.S .and Canada

This is a painting of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. He is the most influential Sikist. He would go around and preach the message of God.

Sikist have to be initiated or become a real Sikh. Most are initiated at a very young age. When you are initiated you must follow all Sikh traditions such as sacrifice, clothing, and fellowship.
