He was as tall as a giant

METAPHOR
A metaphor is a comparison of two (or more) unlike things without like or as usually uses the words is, are or will be.
He is louder than a baseball announcer.

IDIOM
A idiom is a phrase or expression which means something different from what the actually say.
Hold your horses.

ONOMATOPOEIA
A onomatopoeia is the use of words that sound like the noise they name or...words ex. buzz, snap, pop.

A alliteration is the repetitions of initial (1st) constant sounds in two or more neighboring words.

A personification is giving a non - human thing (plants, animals, objects, etc.) human traits (qualities, feelings, ideas, and/or characteristics).

a hyperbole is a figure of speech using exaggeration.
