• Twice went into exile
• Adhered to equality
• Creole leader of the independence movement.

IDEALS

• Establishment of a large confederation.
• Liberty and unity
• Anti slavery
• Sought to have the same revolution as the USA

SUCCESS

• Created a gran columbia
• Modeled their constitution after that of the USA
• Achieved anti salvery

AFTER SUCCESS

• He lost control of Gran Columbia
• Due to political and religional differences
• Ruled south america ungovernable
• While going into self emposed exile in europe he died of tuberculosis
