  • Express an action, activity that is done repeatedly
Simple Present Tense is one of several forms of present tense in English. This tense is used to express an action, activity or work that is done repeatedly, daily habits and to state general truths

STRUCTURE

  • Affirmative
  • S + Verb1(s/es) + O
  • Negative
  • S + do / does + not + verb 1 + O
  • Interrogative
  • Do / Does + S + verb 1 + O

AFFIRMATIVE

  • S + Verb 1 + O
  • Example
  • I watch movie everyday
  • You always play basket
  • They often go to temple
  • We buy a meal regularly
  • She teaches English sometimes
  • He usually goes to university
I, you, they and we are followed by infinitive verbs, while for subject he, she and it the verbs are added s or es

FUNCTION

  • Repeated or regularly activities
  • Fact, general truth and common truth that happens continuosly
  • Future events that are part of time table
1. Repeated activities
The action can be a habit, a hobby, daily activities or something that often happens

2. Simple Present can also indicate the speaker believes that a fact was true before, is true now, and will be true in the future
