Favorite Quote
"We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties."
Metaphor
We wear the mask is like a superhero, such as batman, because batman hides his true self behind a costume and the poem is talking about hiding our true self: like feelings and personality.

"Nay, let them only see us, while we wear the mask!"
~Even though people see others, they still wear the mask to hide their true feelings.
