  • KING ARTHUR IS MET BY A STRANGE GREEN KNIGHT
  • The knight invites King Arthur to partake in a game
  • The game is to behead the other with an axe
  • Arthur is intrigued and asks more about this game

  • The knight tells arthur the rules
  • Each person gets a turn to strike one blow
  • The other must stand still and not flinch
  • A year and a day later the other gets to strike the other

  • King Arthur accepts but Sir Gawain says hell fight instead
  • This is to defend his king
  • Also to prove his honor
  • Gawain gets to go first

  • Sir Gawain strikes the Green Knight with his axe
  • The green knights head falls off
  • The green knight stays standing picks up his head and talks
  • He tells Gawain where and when to meet him
  • The Green Knight rides off headless

  • Sir Gawain departs for his turn to be struck
  • He stays at a castle
  • The lord invites him to stay longer and have a hunting game
  • Sir Gawain does not go out and hunt but stays and flirts with the lady
  • She is flirtatious but he only kisses her three times

  • The gift is a green girdle
  • Sir Gawain departs but forgets to give the belt to the lord
  • Gawain goes to meet the green knight

  • The knight goes to strike Sir Gawain
  • Sir Gawain flinches
  • The knight says its alright and swings again
  • The Green Knight only grazes Sir Gawain

  • For his chivalry
  • For his honor
  • And he also points out his mistake
  • Sir Gawain then rides off to return home
