FACTS

  • Sir Thomas More was born February 6,1478
  • He lived in London,England. He also lived in the house of London for many years.
  • Sir Thomas More was a writer.

Major achievement

  • Sir Thomas More's major achievement was writing the book Utopia. This piece of writing was published in 1516. In this piece he talks about a perfect society, which did not exist during that time. He talks about having no war and how everyone is equal.

Humanism

  • The book Utopia is an example of humanism. Sir Thomas talks about how fear motivates humans rather than reason. Also he writes about a perfect society which did not exist during that time. When society is not perfect it shows human flaws, so therefore this artifact is an example of humanism.

Humanistic Beliefs, and feelings

  • Sir Thomas strongly believed in individuality and the education of all people, male and female.
  • He disagreed with some elements of Catholicism. He also had a intolerance of Lutheranism.

Why he truly is a humanist

  • Sir Thomas More is truly a humanist. "What you cannot turn to good, you must at least make as little bad as you can." This quote proves that Sir Thomas More was a humanist.This quote is saying, if you can make a change that will make the world a better place, go ahead and do it. Humanism is all about human interests.
