ARCHAEA

  • Was classified in the 1980's.
  • Found in extreme environments such as hot boiling water, high pressure, or salty areas.
  • It is also called ancient bacteria.

BACTERIA

  • Single celled microbes.
  • It is plural of bacterium.
  • Example: E.coli

PLANTS

  • They are the 2nd largest kingdom.
  • They make their own food.
  • 250,000 species known.
  • Example: trees

ANIMALS

  • Largest kingdom
  • 1 million species known.
  • Found in most diverse environments
  • Example: monkey

FUNGI

  • Organisms that look like plants but can't make their own food.
  • They get their food from soil.
  • Some taste good but others can kill you.
  • Example: mushrooms

PROTISTS

  • They have complex cells.
  • They are much different than each other.
  • Most protists are unicellular which means they have one cell.
  • Example: algae

  • Microbes - living thing that is to small to see. Includes archaea, fungi, bacteria, protists , and some animals.
  • Diverse - different
