Skeleton is a single person sport where the athlete aims to get to the bottom of the frozen track/hill on a small sled, face down, in a shorter amount of time than their opponent.

Skeleton was added to the Olympics in 1948 but was taken out, and then put back in, in 2002.

It originated in Switzerland as a spinoff of Cresta Sledding.

The first winner was Gert Elasser, and the person with the most wins is Gregor Staehli.

All together Russia is in the lead with one gold medal and one bronze metal.

The game is called Skeleton because someone had mentioned how a new metal sled looked like a skeleton..
