KELOID

MORE COMMON IN OLDER MEN AND WOMEN. LESS LIKELY FOR THE ELDERLY AND KIDS TO GET THE

  • A growth of extra scar tissue where the skin has healed already
  • Most skin injuries can cause keloids to form (ance scars, burns, surgical cuts)
  • Keloids are not dangerous, but in some cases can be symptomatic.
  • They can be hereditary which increaes your chance of forming one.
  • They could be removed surgically or one can get a cortisone injection.

MOLE

MOLES ARE GROWTHS ON THE SKIN THAT ARE USUALLY BROWN OR BLACK

  • Formed when melanocytes grow in a cluster instead of spreading out
  • Moles are not dangerous, but those that dont look normal or change shape have the potentiosl of becoming cancerous
  • Moles are hereditary
  • One can have them surgically removed so they can be prevented from growing back in that spot
  • Moles are common on everyone of all ages and demographic

PEDICULOSIS

IT IS AN INFESTATION OF LICE

  • Tiny parasites called lice attach onto the hair shaft they cause itching
  • They arent deadly, just annoying because of the itching
  • Pediculosis is not hereditary, but can be transfered through direct contact
  • More common in younger kids specifically girls.
  • Brush hair, shampoo rinse and repeat, and oil your hair.

PRURITUS

PRURITUS IS A SEVERE ITCHING OF THE SKIN

  • Allergic reactions, different substances, chemicals, or dry skin can cause this
  • In most cases no, but with an extreme rash it is safe to get it checked out
  • No, but itching in a localized spot can be
  • There are many ointments that you can apply to ease the itching
  • Everyone can experience this so its not more common in one demographic than the other

PSORIASIS

IT IS A CHRONIC INFLAMMATORY SKIN DISEASE

  • Skin cells are rapidly produced causing them to build up on the surface, forming thick scales
  • In most cases it isnt, but it can be because it could dirupt the skin from maintaining a stable temperature.
  • It is considered a genetic disease so it can be passed from parents to children.
  • There is no known cure for the disease, but there are ointments that can ease the itching and pain
  • Occurs equally in men and women ages 15-35 in all racial backgrounds.

PUSTULE

IT IS A SMALL BLISTER OR PIMPLE CONTAINING PUS

  • They can appear in acne and can also be a sign of skin infection
  • On its own no, but combine it psoriasis then it can
  • No it is not hereditary
  • Most people pop it(pimple) or it just goes away
  • Everyone can get it most common in a persons teen years
