Background

• Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser (then 12) stabbed victim Payton Leutner 19 times during a game of hide-and-seek in the woods after a slumber party
• They wanted to "prove themselves worthy of slenderman" and to protect their families from slenderman

• Under Wisconsin law, if they are ten years old, they will be tried as adults for attempted first degree intentional homicide - imprisonment up to 65 years
• Hearings scheduled for May and June this year

• Geyser was diagnosed with schizophrenia, the lawyer is trying for a plea of insanity - but court-ordered doctor ruled her competent
• Attorneys of both tried to get the case moved to juvenile court
• Lawyers said that the children should have been charged with second degree murder instead - not premeditated - but they had a shopping list of weapons
