Slopes

By : Darius Murray

Types of slopes

  • The main four slopes consist of ;
  • Positive Slope (When lines go up-left to right)
  • Negative Slope ( When lines go down-left to right)
  • Zero Slope (When the lines are horizontal)
  • Undefined Slope (When the lines are vertical)

Slope Information

  • Slope is a number that describes both the direction and steepness of a line
  • Slope is often denoted by the letter M.
  • The line is either increasing, decreasing, horizontal or vertical
  • The equation of any straight line is called a linear equation.

Some Slope Formulas

  • Slopes usually have a formula, or equation to solve it with.
  • The linear equation can be written as y=mx+b
  • Two point formulas = m=y2-y1/x2-x1
  • The basic formula for slope is rise/run

Things to remember .

  • Some slopes can be placed on grids.
  • DO NOT FORGET CHANGE IN X/Y
  • Fractions can be used to solve some slope equations.
  • Slopes can be negative and positive.
  • When given two points, use a grid.
