What is smoking?
-smoking is a white little stick that is known as a cigarette
-this cigarette contains:
*Nicotine (highly addictive)
*Over 40,000 chemicals (over 43 cause cancer)
*tar
*carbon monoxide and DDT
*formaldehyde and arsenic
*ammonia
*hydrogen cyanid

HOW DO YOU SMOKE?

  • You put the cigarette in your mouth
  • Light the end of it
  • Suck the harsh chemicals and smoke
  • Breath out the smoke
  • And repeat until cigarette is almost gone

SIDE EFFECTS OF SMOKING:

  • Lung cancer
  • Lung diseases
  • Death
  • Respiratory disease
  • Cardiovascular disease

SMOKING CAN ALSO CAUSE:

  • Loss of hair
  • Aging and damage of skin
  • Loss of teeth
  • Weight gain
  • And many others

Christine!
Wanted to fit in in high school and started when she was 16. She
smoked for 28 years at age 44 she got diagnosed with oral cancer. After many treatments was cured and now has been cured for 5 years!

Smoking has effected me...

My dad has smoked for 12 years, my step dad smoked for 14 years until he was diagnosed with cancer last spring and hasn't ever smoked since he's been cured. We save lots of money today.

How it's changed!
In the 50's and 60's many smoked! They could smoke in school, restaurants, stores, anywhere! And over 20 million have died since 1964 from smoking. Slowly since then many have dropped. And today only 9% of teens smoke and only 18.1% of adults smoke. That's this generation changing that.
