SNOW LEOPARD NAMES

Snow leopards live in Central Asia, specifically in the Himalayan mountains and the mountains of Afghanistan,Bhutan,China, India,Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia,Nepal Pakistan,Russia,Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. They can even be found on Mt. Everest.

Snow leopards live high up in the mountains. They like steep and rocky places with few plants. Snow leopards live in the high steep areas of the mountains in the summer and in the winter they come down to a more flat alpine area where they can hunt more easily.

Snow leopards have thick light grayish yellowish fur with black spots that helps keep them warm and camouflage in the cold frigid winter. There tail is long and thick to keep there face warm during the night. There huge paws act like snowshoes. There front legs are short and there back legs are longer and give them strength to jump far.

Snow leopards are 4 to 5 feet long. They are from 60 to 120 pounds.

Snow leopards live 10-12 years in the wild and 15-20 years in the captivity.

Snow leopards are carnivores. They eat blue sheep,ibex,pikas,hares and birds.

Snow leopards are endangered there are only around 7000 left in the wild and about 600 in captivity.
