• Aimed for political unrest
• USAID were trying to undermine their government

WHY IT MATTERS?

• US's reputation looks really bad
• Has a possibility of brining about political change
• The two countries have already had conflict and this is adding onto it

AFGHANISTAN

NATO

• The NATO shot a rocket into a village in Nadir shah Kot district
• An Afghan woman and two children were killed and one man was wounded

WHY THIS MATTERS?

• It raises the issue of civilian casualties
• The US military has troops there all the time but are planning on leaving so they aren't as protected

WITHDRAWING TROOPS

• Obama and NATO threatened to withdrawal troops from Afghanistan by the need of the year
• Theatrical act
• Administration nor NATO wants to leave completey or does many afghans and neighboring counties

WHY THIS MATTERS?

• Reputation
• Weakened military forces for both US and Afghanistan (until US leaves)
• They don't actually want to leave but they might be: publicity
• Safety
