• Polo y servicio is the system of forced labor
• Imposed by Spaniards on all male natives with ages ranging
• 16-60. This 40-day mandatory labor was not paid and was done each year.

• various government projects like construction
• of roads, bridges and government buildings & ships.
• Since most of the natives were poor and couldn't pay the amount
• They had no choice but to render the service.
