THE ROYAL PROCLAMATION
When: 1763
Where: West of the Appalachian Mts., London.
What happened: Colonists want to move west to settle on more "unclaimed land". But, local Native Americans
are killing settlers. The British are now passing out blankets infected with smallpox for "temporary" peace.
This only just causes more violence. So, the British pass a law stating that no one is allowed to move west.

Effects on the colonies and British:
Some colonists ( Daniel Boone ) decide to go west anyway.
British and Native Americans are killing the settlers who move west.
Even though some get killed, they are adamant about their decision.
Who: Colonists, King George III, Chief Pontiac.

STAMP ACT
When: 1764-1765
Where: London, colonies
What happened: British are taxing America because Britain is in
debt from the French and Indian War. So Lord Greenville decides to tax
popular items. However, the taxes are too expensive so the colonies rebel.

STAMP ACT #2
Effects on colonists and British:
The British not only tax stamps, they tax sugar too. Not only do they do
that. They put the Quartering Acts on the colonists that if British soldiers
knock on your door and asks you for shelter you will have to provide them
with firewood, candles, vinegar, salt, bedding, beer, and cider!!!

BOSTON MASSACRE
Boston Massacre and Townshend Acts
When: March 5, 1770
Where: Boston, MA
What happened:
A mob of 60 colonists ( probably sailors )

BOSTON MASSACRE #2
Were "teasing" British soldiers. Then, they started throwing snowballs at them.
Little did they know that one of the snowballs had a rock in it. To the British
this sounded like a gunfire. So they fired at a freed slave named Crispus Attucks.
Eventually, that became a massacre.
Who: British, King George, mob, Parliament

TOWNSHEND ACTS
When: 1770
Where: Boston, MA
What happened:
The British have imposed the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act, and the Quartering Act.
So Charles Townshend stated indirect tax. This would punish the colonies and generate in come for the King.

TOWNSHEND ACTS #2
Who: Parliament, Townshend, Lord North, British, colonists.

BOSTON TEA PARTY
When: 1773
Where: Boston, MA
What happened: In 1773 the British imposed the Tea Act.
Which was brilliant because tea was increasingly popular. However the colonists disliked this.
So the colonists smuggled 17,000,000 lbs. of Dutch tea and dumped it all in to Boston Harbor.

INTOLERABLE ACTS
When: 1774
Where: colonies, British
What happened: The British have now put Boston under the Coercive Acts
which makes Boston military control. And all trials for breaking laws will be held in England.
They will also close the harbor and make Boston pay for the dumped tea. Boston is now under control.

INTOLERABLE ACTS #2
Who: Parliament, King George III, Sam Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere.
15.
FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS
When: 1774
Where: Philadelphia, PA
What happened: Men are now forming groups to repeal against the Intolerable Acts.
55 delegates from almost all 13 colonies ( except Georgia ) are now doing " therapy sessions".
This group would repeal the Acts.
16.
FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS #2
Who: John Adams, Peyton Randolph, George Washington, Charles Thomson, Joseph Galloway.
