SUGAR AND MOLASSES ACT

1764

Sugar and Molasses act-
Import taxes had to be paid,goods were smuggled. Also less than half of the money made went to the army. Then James Otis set fire to their use.

STAMP ACT

1765

Stamp act-
Taxes had to be paid for paper and document taxes. Also had to pay extra on books and business material/papers

Quartering act-
Forced to work with the British troops and paid for the expenses. Along with having to pay extra money for them and had privacy invaded

Was a big step into the revolutionary war/revolution

Parliament gave tea to the colonies for free because of the slur plus they had, but they still had to pay taxes for it.

  • Closed the port of Boston
  • Modified the Massachusetts charter taking many goods
  • British officials accused of treason and might be taken to England for trial
  • Governor of Massachusetts quartered British soldiers in buildings
  • Was not intended to punish the colonies, extended the boundaries the Quebec and the Ohio River
