  • Natural (physical)characteristics include landforms,
  • bodies of water,vegetation and climate

MICHIGAN'S VEGETATION AND CLIMATE

  • Forests and orchards are important types
  • of vegetation in Michigan.
  • Michigan's climate has four seasons and is
  • influenced by the Great Lakes.

MICHIGAN'S HUMAN CHARACTERISTICS

  • Human characteristics are often connected
  • to natural (physical) characteristics. For
  • example, people often build bridges across
  • rivers and cities next to rivers.

MICHIGAN'S NATURAL RESOURCES

  • Important natural resources of Michigan
  • include trees,fertile soil, the Great lakes and other
  • bodies of water and minerals.
  • It is important for people to use natural resources
  • wisely.

  • Scarcity results because resources
  • are limited and human wants are
  • unlimited.

  • highways, and state police. To pay for these
  • public goods and services the state government
  • collects money from taxes,fees, and fines

  • Steamboats and the Erie Canal
  • caused more people to move
  • and settle in Michigan
