ANDES MOUNTAINS

  • It is the world's 2nd highest mountain range
  • Stretches along western South America for a distance of 5,500 miles
  • There are 4 levels of the Andes Mountains (Down Below)
  • ^ Tierra Helada, Tierra Fria, Tierra Templada, Tierra Caliente ^
  • Found in Argentina,Chile,Bolivia,Columbia,Ecuador,Peru,Venezuela

CLIMATE AND VEGETATION

  • The climate depends on the elevation.
  • If the elevation is high, the temperature is low
  • If the elevation is low, the temperature is high
  • The vegetation is only sparse assortment of mosses,linchens,and dwarf shrubs
  • South America's climate includes the steamy rain forest of the Amazon Basin and the icy of the upper Andes

PAMPAS GRASSLANDS

  • The Pampas is Argentina's most populated area
  • The llanos,Gran Chaco,Amazon rainforest, and the Pampas make up Central America
  • The Pampas lies south of the Gran Chaco
  • It covers an area of about 295,000 square miles
  • The Pampas are a great home to most if Argentina's cities

CLIMATE AND VEGETATION

  • Good for raising cattle
  • The rich soil provides a variety of crops
  • Mostly soybeans and wheat
  • It is hot in Summer and windy in Winter
  • It is normally humid and warm

AMAZON RIVER

LOCATED MOSTLY IN BRAZIL AND PERU

  • Is the largest water system in South America
  • It carries 1/5 of Earth's water
  • It flows from the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean
  • It also flows through Columbia,Ecuador,Bolivia,and Venezuela
  • It's 4,000 miles long
