Life in Ancient Greece
4th century B.C. was considered the "Golden Age" era when art, music, poetry, philosophy, and politics flourished.
Athenian society was male dominate, only men from the upper class had a formal education
Women had few rights and were just expected to stay home with their children.
Greeks believed in many gods and were deeply religious people.

He received an education appropriate for his family's status in life.
He learned to read and write, and his father taught him about poetry, music, and athletics.
His father also taught him about stonemasonry, their trade.
