A GREEK PHILOSOPHER

What is their background?
Socrates was born in Athens in 469 BC and died in 399 BC.(3)He was first an Athenian sculptor.(1)Socrates received a regular elementary school education.(2)Socrates later found out that his true love was philosophy.(1)From then on he began to teach children the Socratic method.(1)The Socratic Method is a method of teaching used to ask people questions so they are able to use their knowledge to see things for themselves.(1)

Why are they important?
Most of the facts that we know about Socrates was because of one of his students named Plato.(2)Socrates stood up for what he believed in even though the rulers disagreed with him. The rulers convicted him of corrupting the youth.They suggested that he be put to death so he ended up drinking a special poison called Hemlock.(2)He has taught us to believe in what we think is right.(2)

How do they impact us today?
Socrates impacts us greatly today. Today we still continue to use the Socratic Method of teaching.(3)One of his students named Plato wrote books that we still read today because of the teachings of Socrates.(2) His Methods influence the way teachers teach their children.(3)

Who was one of his students and what did they accomplish?
One of his students name was Plato.(1). Plato wrote a book called The Republic.
It was about justice,equality,and political power.
