WHAT IS SOIL CONSERVATION

  • Soil conservation is using methods to save our soul from erosion or becoming contaminated with chemicals.
  • Is the management of soil to prevent its destruction.
  • Since the dust bowl, farmers have farmers have adopted modern methods of soil conservation

METHODS USED IN CONSERVING SOIL

  • Soil can be conserved through contour plowing,conservation plowing,and crop rotation.
  • Conservation plowing this methods is also called low-till or no-till plowing
  • This farm's fields show evidence of contour plowing and crop rotation

METHODS:

  • Agronomic practices- The land will posses a vegetational cover so as to prevent erosion.
  • Contour farming- Crops are cult ivied along the contour of the land.
  • Mulching- Inter culturing operations will kill weeds and soil mulches help the plants to be rooted firmly in the soil.
  • Crop rotations- alternatively growing a cereal and a legume in the same field will not only increase the yield but also the fertility of the soil mulches help the plant to be rooted firmly in the soil.
