PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SOLAR ENERGY

HOW DOES SOLAR ENERGY WORK???

  • Solar power cells convert sunlight into electricity
  • using the energy of speeding photons to create an electrical current within a solar panel.
  • Photons are created in the center of the sun by the fusion of atoms.

How can solar energy be used???
This intense heat can be used in industrial applications or to produce electricity. One of the greatest benefits of large scale solar thermal systems is the possibility of storing the sun's heat energy for later use, which allows the production of electricity even when the sun is no longer shining.

WHAT ARE SOME EXAPLES OF SOME USES OF SOLAR ENERGY

  • Solar heating
  • Solar photovoltaics
  • Solar thermal energy
  • Solar architecture
  • Artificial photosynthesis

WHAT EFFECT DOES SOLAR ENERGY HAVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT???

  • Land use
  • Habitats loss
  • Water use
  • use of hazardous manufacturing

IS SOLAR ENERGY WIDELY ACCEPTED TODAY??? WHY OR WHY NOT???

  • Solar energy is widely accepted as an alternative for electric energy we use on a day to day basis.
  • The technology used to create solar energy is now considered as a dependable way of energy production.
  • With the high cost of electricity today this comes as a welcomed option to reduce our monthly bills.
  • Solar light help us minimize our use on fossil fuels and allows us to use as much power as we feel is necessary

Positives and negatives
Solar energy has the potential to dramatically change the way the world gets its power.
Negatives: While solar is among the world's cleanest forms of energy, plans to develop utility scale solar farms have raised concerns about potential environmental impacts.First, no matter how clear the skies, a solar panel won't produce electricity at night.if there is bad weather for an extended time, a solar energy system will provide little output.
Positives: low maintenance costs of solar facilities and that the energy source itself -- sunlight -- costs nothing.leading to record growth in installed solar capacity for more than a decade at the time of publication.
