  • Earth 92.96 million mi
  • Mars 141.6 million mi
  • Jupiter 483.8 million mi
  • Saturn 890.7 million mi
  • Uranus 1.787 billion mi
  • Neptune 2.795 billion mi

MERCURY

  • Closest planet to the sun.
  • There are no rings around it.
  • Looks a lot like earths moon.
  • Daytime on Mercury can be up to 6 times hotter than the hottest place on earth.
  • Nighttime on Mercury can be up to 2 times colder than the coldest place on earth.

VENUS

  • A day on Venus lasts longer than a year.
  • Venus is often called earths sister planet.
  • Second brightest planet in the night sky.
  • Known as the morning star and evening star.
  • Atmospheric presser on Venus is 92 times greater than the earths.

EARTH

  • Earth has a powerful magnetic field.
  • There is only one natural satellite of the planet earth.
  • Earth is the only planet not named after God.
  • Of all of the planets in our solar system, earth has the greatest density.
  • Earths rotation is gradually slowing.

MARS

  • Mars is home to the tallest mountain in the solar system.
  • Only 18 missions to Mars have been successful.
  • Mars has the largest dust storms in the solar system.
  • On Mars the sun appears about half the size a sit does on earth.
  • Pieces of Mars have fallen down to earth.

JUPITER

  • Jupiter is the 4th biggest object in our solar system.
  • Jupiter has the shortest day of all the planets.
  • Jupiter orbits the sun once every 11.8 earth years.
  • Jupiter has a thin ring system.
  • Eight spacecraft have visited Jupiter.

SATURN

  • Saturn can be seen with the naked eye.
  • Saturn is the Flattest planet.
  • Saturn orbits the sun once every 29.4 earth years.
  • Saturn has 150 moons and smaller moonlets.
  • Saturn is made mostly of hydrogen.

URANUS

  • Uranus is often referred to as an "ice giant" planet.
  • Uranus hits the coldest temperature of any planet.
  • Uranus has two sets of rings and a very thin set of dark colored rings.
  • Only one spacecraft has flown by Uranus.
  • Uranus makes one trip around the sun every 84 earth years.

NEPTUNE

  • Neptune has 14 moons.
  • Only one spacecraft has flown by neptune.
  • It's the 4th largest planet.
  • Neptune has a very thin collection of rings.
  • Neptune has a very active climate.
