trench Warfare

  • During World War I, troops used trench warfare when they fought with little movement.
  • Troops dug trenches along the front.
  •  “No Man’s Land" was the areas were competing  troops couldn't cross
  • Most trenches were dug in zig zag patterns.
  • Trenches stretched over 100 miles across.

Food in the trenches

  • Food was very limiting because of the number of soldier per trench
  • British Soldiers ate- bread, tea, dried fruit,cheese, cornmeal, & hardtack 
  • German Soilders ate-vegatables, biscuits, bread, an dried fruit
  • American Soldiers ate- hardtack, coffee, and bacon 

SAnitary COnditionss

  • Soldiers during WWI took as many as 3 baths a month.
  • A lot of them got trench mouth from lack of oral hygiene.
  • Trench were disgustingly filled with dead corpses, human feces, rats. 
  • During the war they never really got to change their clothes resulting in
  • diseases

Disease

  • From of health conditions soldiers got many diseases.
  • They got diseases like trench foot, trench mouth and trench fever.
  • Trench Foot-(picture behind) not changing wet socks resulted in this
  • Trench Mouth- not rushing teeth for a couple of mouth resulted in this
  • Trench Fever-not laying in the trenches getting lice.
