Main Characters

  • There is only one main character named Charley who is fifteen but he already looks eighteen with a muscular build. He joins the war to get money for his widowed mother and brother, Orren, and to prove that he is a man.

Introduction

  • When Charley enlisted he was transferred to Fort Snelling. Charley was bored of military life then his regiment had to travel.

Rising Action

  • Charley then part takes in his first battle, The Battle of Bull Run. During this battle he sees his friend killed by a cannon and watches as his comrades die. During the battle he started to feel like an animal in his rage he killed the enemy soldiers.

Conflict

  • In the third battle Charley engages in a bayonet fight. Afterwards believing he was hit went to the surgeons tent to find that the blood all over him wasn't his.

Climax

Falling Action

  • Charley is hit during The Battle of Gettsburg he is then sent home

  • When he is sent home he lives his life as a normal person with a soldiers heart and memory's

  • The conflict is when Charley watches his friends die and as he changes himself though the acts of war.
