WHAT IS SOURCE CRITISM?

• a valuable tool that helps scholars understand the bible
• helps scholars figure out what sources were drawn on by the authors of the bible
• used to decipher questions about different Bible passages similarities

HOW DOES SOURCE CRITISM WORK?

• source critism works like a puzzle you need all of the pieces to see the picture
• for example: two passages may be very similar but also very different
• therefore some questions and answers may overlap

WHY IS SOURCE CRITISM IMPORTANT?

• most famous for the discovery of the first five books of the bible
• this is also know as "documentary hypothesis"
• responsible for finding the source of the Gospels
• the source of the Gospels is also known as the Quelle (Q)
