  • Indonesia, Laos
  • Vietnam, Cambodia
  • Thailand, Brunei
  • Singapore, East Timor
  • Philippines, Malaysia, Burma

LANGUAGES

  • The main languages spoken in Indonesia are English and Indonesian
  • There are over 100 native languages spoken throughout the country as well

GOVERNMENT

  • Indonesians live in a republic
  • Among the many of their freedoms, freedom of expression is the most predominant

RELIGION

  • Their main religions are Islam, Roman Catholic, Hinduism, and, Buddhism
  • The followers of the religions above, all believe in recarnation

INHABITANTS OF INDONESIA

  • People mostly live in large cities
  • In these large cities, many people live in expensive homes

FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Most families in Indonesia are usually small
  • In each family, all of their members have jobs
  • The father is in charge of the money
  • Meanwhile the mother keeps the family together

SOCIAL STRUCTURE & WEALTH

  • the army leaders, politicians and the industrialists are at the top
  • They hold a large percentage of the wealth of the country
  • 120 million Indonesians live under the poverty level; most of them live off about 86 US cents a day
  • The amount of poor people surpass the amount of the wealthy

MUSIC, ART, LITERATURE, AND FASHION

  • Nearly thousands of Indonesian islands have its own cultural, artistic history, and character.
  • This results in hundreds of different forms of music, which often accompanies dance and theatre.
  • Indonesia has a long history of paintings, sculptures, and architecture
  • Artists go into great detail with their work.
  • Indonesia has a long history of poetry

EDUCATION

  • Education in Indonesia is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Culture
  • Education is defined as a planned effort to establish a study environment and education
  • In Indonesia, all citizens must undertake nine years of compulsory education
  • Which consists of six years at elementary level and three in secondary level.  

LAND USE

  • The land use in Indonesia can be separated into three categories
  • arable land - land cultivated for crops like wheat, maize, and rice that are replanted after each harvest
  • permanent crops - land cultivated for crops like citrus and coffee that are not replanted
  • other - any land not arable or under permanent crops; includes permanent meadows and pastures

  • Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) is a trade bloc agreement by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations supporting local manufacturing in all ASEAN countries.
  • ASEAN is a geo-political and economic organisation of ten countries located in Southeast Asia
  • It's members includes all of Southeast Asia

  • There are more than 490 different ethnics living in Indonesia
  • Indonesia is one of the most diverse countries on our globe
