  • It is usually 36-60 inches long
  • Length when hatched; 8-13 inches
  • Is around 556 grams (1.226 lb)

Colors & Patterns

  • They have smooth scales
  • They often have some white coloration under their chin
  • Young racers are generally tan or gray with a series of brown spots
  • They have a slender body

Poison

They are nonvenomous - But the bite can still be very painful

Diet

  • Rodents
  • Frogs/Toads
  • Lizards
  • Insects
  • Basically anything they can overpower

Live young or eggs?

  • They lay eggs
  • Breeding occurs from March-June
  • They lay 6-20 eggs
  • Newborns are 6-9 inches usually

hOW IT ATTRACTS PREY

Often corners its prey then bites its neck.

It commonly has a white chin, a grey stomach, & a black dorsal
