GULF OF ADEN

  • Water flows into the Red Sea through the Bab el Mandieb (strait)
  • It is located in the Arabian Sea between Yemon and Samolia
  • A vital waterway for shipping especially for oil
  • Known for acts of piracy, making its waters dangerous

RUB al-KHALI

  • Has the nickname the empty quarter
  • It is the largest sand dessert in the world
  • The dessert covers 650,000 square kilometers
  • The daily maximum temperature averages at 47*C or 117*F and can reach to 56*C or 133*F

BAHRAIN

  • Believed to be the site of the ancient land of Dilman
  • Oil was discovered in Bahrain in 1932
  • In 1971 Bahrain declared independence and signed a friendship treaty
  • It consist of a low central escarpment with the highest point being the mountain of smoke

CYPRUS

  • Cyprus is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean
  • The earliest human activity on the island dates back to the 10 millennium B.C
  • Cyprus has the warmest climate in the Mediterranean part
  • Cyprus suffers from a water shortage

JORDAN RIVER

  • The River drops rapidly Ina 75 kilometer run to swampy lake Hula
  • The waters of the Jordan River are an important resource to dry lands
  • In the Hebrew Bible the Jordan is referred to as the source of fertility to a large path
  • The Jordan is a frequent symbol in folk, gospel,and spiritual music

DEAD SEA

  • Has the nickname the sea of death
  • The Dead Sea had attracted visitors for thousands of years
  • The Dead Sea has a density of 1.240 Kg/L
  • The Dead Sea is 1,004 ft deep
