space hubble
NASA named the world's first space-based optical telescope after American astronomer Edwin P. Hubble
April 24, 1990 from space shuttle Discovery.
Hubble transmits about 120 gigabytes of science data every week.
Hubble must be extremely steady and accurate.
Hubble is a telescope that orbits Earth.

space shuttle
After 30 years of service, NASA's fleet of three space shuttles is standing down for good.
The space shuttle program sent over 3 million pounds of cargo into space.
The space shuttle was 184 feet long.
The liftoff weight of the space shuttle was 4.5 million pounds.
For an entire generation, the space shuttle was NASA.

planetarium
The planetarium is built on what once was an artificial island on Lake Michigan.
The term “planetarium” was initially used to represent a small model of the solar system.
In October 2013, the Planetarium re-opened after a 16-month renovation process.
Two of the shows offered by the Planetarium during Fall 2013 are The Autumn Sky and Oasis in Space.
the Planetarium’s goal is to show visitors some of the amazing discoveries that have been made

Binoculars
Early telescopic lenses were full of bubbles and other imperfections.
Early binocular models had brass housing covers and were relatively heavy and expensive to produce.
If you didn't know that Binoculars continue to advance with new technology.
Binoculars are also coming equipped with night scope vision.
Early binoculars were actually called binocular telescopes.

telescope
The first telescopes were all refracting telescopes.
The first telescopes were made using glass lenses.
Modern telescopes can detect infrared and radio waves.
The reflecting telescope was invented by Isaac Newton.
An observatory is a remote location that houses at least one telescope.

space radio
Radio astronomy is a subfield of astronomy that studies celestial objects at radio frequencies
Radio astronomy is conducted using large radio antennas referred to as radio telescopes
The use of interferometry allows radio astronomy to achieve high angular resolution
Radio astronomers use different techniques to observe objects in the radio spectrum.
Radio telescopes may need to be extremely large in order to receive signals with high signal-to-noise ratio
