• It was between the Spain and the United States
• It was in 1898 and caused by the sinking of the us battleship Maine
• Which was mysteriously sunk perhaps by Spain and the US then aided Cuba
• And helped them fight against Spain for freedom

THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR

• It resulted in a victory for the United States
• We gained respect from other parts of the world
• Cuba gained independence and developed as a country
• The US also gained Guam, Puerto Rico, Philipenes and Hawaii
• This allowed the US to control the Caribbean and trade with Asia
