Background

  • Spanish Culture is quite literally prehistoric.
  • There are a plethora of caves filled of Spanish drawings that provide a sense of culture before there was much to go off of.
  • Since the 1800s Spanish artists and musicians have been taking charge of their culture and industry.

Art

  • Spain is one of the capitals of the world as far as well known art goes
  • Since the start of the country there has been a plethora of outstanding artists that have left a massive impact on the world and Spanish culture

Art

  • From Velasquez's religious pieces to Picasso's cubism there have been so many different influences that have lasted lifetimes
  • It is not just the art itself, but the colors themselves that have truly impacted the entoirety of the culture not just the future art

Music

  • There has been an evolution through Spanish music that has impacted their culture every step of the way
  • At the start, there was a strong influence of Roman and Greek cultures, but it quickly developed into much more as their own culture started to emerge

Music

  • Spanish songs have always been a way to tell stories whether through folk or opera
  • Through time those stories progressed with music and are nowadays often pop songs that have to do with romance which is another huge part of Spanish culture

TrADITIONS and holidays

  • There are various holidays in Spanish culture that focus on honoring the dead.
  • These traditions do not revolve around grief and sadness, the holidays are meant to be a celebration of life, living or lost.

TrADITIONS and holidays

  • Religion may not be as big as it once was in Spain, but it still plays a massive part in the culture.
  • Traditions include activities such as commemorating Christ, giving gifts, or even just having a party in the honor of the Holy Spirit or one of te many Saints.

TrADITIONS and holidays

  • The third prominent reasoning behind traditions is in fact the activities of the culture themselves. What better reason to celebrate than to embrace yourself.
  • There are so many different ways: bull fights, the "tomato fiesta", parades, there are so many different ways that people honor their culture.

PERSONAL HERITAGE

I am of Spanish descent myself, so to be able to dive further into my culture is very exciting for me. My family has a unique situation when it comes to passing down culture through generations, so we are often looking for ways to better embrace what we don' t know about. This project was a great way to further emerge myself into my heritage and learn about things that my ancestors may have taken part in.
