FACTS ON HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH!!

  • We celebrate it from September 15 to October 15.
  • Christopher Columbus created this but Lyndon Johnson approved it.
  • We celebrate people that come from Spain,carribean, Mexico.
  • We celebrate because it the independence of 5 Latin American countries.
  • There are 7 countries paying tribute to hispanic heritage month.

JUANA DE IBARBOUROU

  • She was born march 8 1892.
  • She was born in Melo, Uruguay.
  • Her husband was Lucas Ibarbourou.
  • She had a son named Julio Cesar.
  • He was born 1917.

JUANA DE IBARBOUROU (CONT.)

  • She married lucas Ibarbourou in June 28 1913.
  • She just had a civil ceremony.
  • She then moved to Montevideo, Uruguay.
  • She got married again but had a religious ceremony.
  • She had a religious ceremony on June 28 1921.

  • Her husband died January 13 1942.
  • She then died July 15 1979.

ACHIEVMENTS

  • Juana wrote poems.
  • La Higuara, Como la Primavera, and la Cita.
  • La Higuara is about a pear tree that is better then the other trees.
  • Como la primavera is when she says authenticity is more attractive.

  • She wasnt really known back then.
  • She was born in a small village
  • She didnt have anything/anyone to share her thought with.

SHE WAS ADMIRED BECAUSE....

  • She was admired because she expressed her feelings
  • She was so honest and put so much emotion in her poems.
  • She talked about herself in her poems.
  • She also connected herself to life objects.

  • Vicente Fernandez and Valentina del pilar were her parents.
  • Her nickname was Juana de America.
  • Her real name is Juana Fernandez before marriage.
  • When she was 17 she published a prose piece.
  • They say her birth day was in 1895 but 2 witnesses say she born in 1892.
