Costa Rica

DAY 1

  • It is bordered by Nicaragua,Panama, Pacific Ocean and Carribean Sea.
  • Costa Rica is in North America
  • The average temperature throughout the year is between 71°F and 81°F.
  • Casado consists of beans, rice, fried chicken, peppers and onions.
  • Ceviche is raw fish marinated in citrus juice.

DAY 1 CONTINUED

  • Gallo pinto is a breakfast dish, consists of rice beans and eggs.
  • Olle de Carne is a stew made of beef, potatoes, carrots, chayotes, and camotes.

DAY 2

  • The main religious events are: Easter Week or Semana Santa , Christmas Week and August second, which is the celebration of the Virgin of the Angels.
  • Carnival of Puntarenas The last week of February. A week filled with great festivities and parades in the sun of Puntarenas.
  • “Coffee Cup” Mid-January. Tennis tournament during the whole week, taking place in the Costa Rica Country Club.

DAY 3

  • Fun fact! There are more than 121 volcanic formations in Costa Rica, and seven of them are active!!
  • Did you know that Costa Rican president Laura Chinchilla is the first woman president of Costa Rica?!
  • There are about 52 species of hummingbirds in Costa Rica, making Costa Rica a true hummingbird capital!!

DAY 4

  • One interesting artifact is called the spheres of Costa Rica made out of granodiorite, a hard, igneous stone. These objects are monolithic sculptures made by human hands!!
  • Costa Rica claims back there artifacts from New York. One of the artifacts is a gold square filled with what it seems to be people. This artifact did not have a name.

DAY 5

  • You can visit the Poás Volcano in Costa Rica.The Poás Volcano, is an active stratovolcano in central Costa Rica. It has erupted 39 times since 1828.
  • Another interesting nature site is the Corcovado National Park . It s a National Park on the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, which is part of the Osa Conservation Area. It was established on 24 October 1975.
  • You can go see the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica!! The volcano had its last eruption in 2010.
  • Celeste River is a river in Tenorio Volcano National Park of Costa Rica. It is notable for its distinctive turquoise coloration, a phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction between sulfur and calcium carbonate.
  • The San José Costa Rica Temple is the 87th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church's First Presidency announceed on March 17, 1999 that a temple would be built in San José, Costa Rica.
