• Two kings ruled Sparta at the same time
• Also known as Lacedaemon
• It was one of the key city states

MILITARY

• Sparta was a warrior society
• Gained their reputation by the power of their military
• Reached the height of its power after defeating Athen in the Pheloponnesian
• Boys started training for the military at ages 7-8

AGRICULTURE

• They did not have a lot of water
• They kept grazing and working animals
• Had a lot of labor force in farming
• 3 most important products were cereal,olives and the vine
• They did multi cropping on the same field

TRADING

• They imported staple cereals when their was poor harvest

• Most traders operated on a small scale that was owning one ship
