SPARTA

Sparta was located primarily in the present day region of southern Greece called Laconia.

Sparta was the culture centered on loyalty to the state and a military service.

At age 7, spartan boys were entered to a rigorous state-sponsored education, military training , and socialization program.

Spartans are known by agoge the system emphasized duty, discipline and endurance.

Spartan women were educated and enjoyed more status and freedom than other Greek woman.

Of the early history of Sparta we rely on very few legends. It is said to have been founded by Lacedaemon, the son of Zeus and Taygete, who married Sparta, the daughter of Eurotas.

One honorable mention for Sparta, was the battle at Thermopylae. Sparta was the last line of defense lead by Leonidas and the 300, against the Persian invasion.
