Introduction
Special olympics has been a part of Kentucky for years.

Why are Special Olympics important?
The Special Olympics are important because they provide an opportunity for athletes with intellectual disabilities to participate in Olympics to earn medals and to be recognized.

When?
Special Olympics take place year around. Each Sport has it's own season.

Participants
People with diagnosed intellectual disabilities from age 8 and up can participate in Special Olympics.

Important Information
The local high school host Olympic field day to allow students with all types of disabilities to participate in a day of sports.
